Müritz and the Mecklenburg lakes

The Mecklenburg Lake District consists of well over 1000 lakes, most of which are interconnected, inviting you to take a trip through nature and history. The Müritz is the largest lake and the heart of the Mecklenburg Lake District. The Mecklenburg Upper Lakes also include the Kölpinsee, the Fleesensee and the Plauer See. They form the highest point of the Mecklenburg Lake District and are therefore the water reservoir for the smaller lakes in the south. Along the lakes, many smaller and larger towns invite you to go ashore. The lakes of the blue quartet are connected without locks, making them an ideal houseboat and sailing area.

From our marina in Hafendorf Müritz you can set off with your houseboat directly from the center of Müritz. Explore the “little sea”, the towns along the Müritz or head further north and explore the other large lakes.

BATHING POSSIBILITIES

Mecklenburg's large lakes are ideal for swimming and relaxing. From sandy beaches with large jetties to untouched bathing spots in the forest, everything is there. But it doesn't always have to be the crowded and noisy public bathing area, the advantage of traveling with one of our boats: You are completely independent and can enjoy the good water quality even in the middle of the lake.

ANGELREVIERE

The Müritz is the largest inland lake in Germany. This is also reflected in its attraction for anglers, with many visitors coming every year with the sole aim of catching one of the large pike. But the other large lakes also have a lot to offer in terms of fishing, be it schools of perch, zander or peaceful fish such as bream and carp. With so much water, every angler gets their money's worth. Many of our boats are suitable for fishing, and fish caught can be prepared directly in the kitchen and eaten with a fantastic view.

CYCLING

Thanks to its flat terrain, the Müritz region is an ideal cycling area for everyone. More than 230 signposted cycle paths in the Lake District offer a wide range of possible routes. You can easily transport bicycles on our houseboats and explore the surrounding area on shore excursions. This leaves you enough energy to marvel at the flora and fauna in nature reserves.

Nature experience tour

Do you love the animal world? Then the Mecklenburg Lake District is the right place for you! There is a very good chance that you will be able to observe cranes directly from the boat! It is a good idea to take binoculars on board for this (can be booked as an extra).

There is another animal highlight to discover on land in the Great Lakeland: Bears! Of course, they don't roam free everywhere, but rescued bears find a new home in the Müritz bear sanctuary.
