Which boats can I drive without a license?
There are many areas in Germany that are considered tourist waterways due to the low level of commercial shipping. These waterways can also be navigated with houseboats over 15 hp without a license.
The prerequisite is the charter certificate, which you will receive from KUHNLE-TOURS on the day of arrival after a 3-hour personal briefing in theory and practice. The certificate is included for our charter crews

. We will send you your personal “Mecklenburg and Märkisch Waters Cruise Planner” in advance to help you prepare. You will receive the “Törnatlas” chart book from us as a loan copy when you take over the boat.
On the remaining waterways you can sail without a license on our houseboats with up to 15 hp. With these boats, for example, a trip through Berlin is also possible without a license (except for a small section on the Spree-Oder waterway from kilometer 14.10 to 20.70).

Am Übernahmetag erfolgt eine ausführliche kostenfreie Einweisung für alle Boote mit mehr als 15 PS, wenn Sie nicht im Besitz eines Sportbootführerschein Binnen sind. Die Einweisung dauert ca. 3 Stunden und besteht aus einem theoretischen und einem praktischen Teil, der auch eine Probefahrt mit unseren Mitarbeitern enthält, so dass Sie optimal vorbereitet sind. Für führerscheinfreie Boote mit weniger als 15 PS erfolgt nur eine praktische Einweisung zum Boot.

Single trips
As the areas are connected and KUHNLE-TOURS operates three charter bases in the areas, you can also book a one-way trip from one base to the next.
For example, you start in Berlin Zeuthen and travel by houseboat through Berlin and then on along the Upper Havel Waterway to the Mecklenburg Lakes and Müritz. You should plan about 10 days for this trip in vacation mode. For those with less vacation time, there are also shorter trips from Zehdenick or Priepert to Müritz, from Berlin-Zeuthen to Zehdenick or vice versa.
