Do we need a boat license?
No, at KUHNLE-TOURS, you can rent houseboats even without a boat license. Before departure, you’ll receive comprehensive training that includes 1.5 hours of theory and 1.5 hours of hands-on practice. This training covers all the important navigation and safety rules, and—thanks to the rental certificate—authorizes you to navigate certain waterways. You’ll also learn how to steer and moor the boat.
What should we keep in mind regarding food and drinks on board?
Our boats are equipped with fully stocked kitchens, allowing you to prepare your own meals. You’ll find supermarkets near our resorts where you can do your grocery shopping.
What happens in case of bad weather?
Boating is safe in almost all weather conditions. However, in the event of hazardous weather conditions, our team is available to advise and assist you.
What is the daily distance of our trip?
It depends on the route and the locks. We recommend not sailing for more than four to six hours a day so that you have enough time to relax and explore.
Is there Wi-Fi on board?
Yes, the boat has Wi-Fi.

Your Studies on Water
Spacious and comfortable, the Pirate 1200 boat can accommodate 9 people (and 3 additional people with extra sleeping arrangements) and is ideal for educational outings on the water. Measuring 12 meters long and 4.10 meters wide, it offers plenty of space for learning and exploring nature. Wi-Fi and a high-end audio system round out the onboard amenities.

Here’s what you can expect during your excursion.
5-Day Itinerary:
After arriving at the port town of Müritz, you’ll settle into your cabin and take part in a 3-hour introductory boat training session covering navigation and safety procedures. In the evening, relax at the “Bar des Pirates.”
The second day begins with a hearty breakfast at the restaurant “L’Auberge du Capitaine” before boarding a houseboat for an excursion to the historic island of Mirow Castle. During the crossing through the lake region, you’ll learn how to navigate the locks, and, weather permitting, you’ll have the chance to go for a swim. On the castle island, you’ll experience history up close—an ideal way to reinforce what you’ve learned in theory. In the evening, a barbecue is held on board.
The third day begins with a canoe trip to the idyllic water lily paradise: a true immersion in nature that brings biology and ecosystems to life. In the evening, everyone cooks together—an excellent opportunity to build teamwork and independence.
On the fourth day, after breakfast, the class sets off on a boat trip to the Biberhof in Diemitz. There, the class visits the planetarium or explores the forest—an ideal opportunity to delve deeper into topics related to geography and science. On the way back to Mirow, the students share their experiences before ending the day with a convivial dinner on board.
Day 5: After breakfast, you’ll head back to Rechlin. The handover goes smoothly, and the students return home with precious memories, new friendships, and a wealth of hands-on learning. This field trip promises to be unforgettable!
